EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR AWARD (EYA) 2009:  2009 EYA THEME: "HR Strategic Alignment & Visibility: A link that unlocks enterprise performance" | The Objectives of the EYA include; - To promote professional (modern best practices) Human Resource (HR) Policies and Practices among Employers
- To recognize Employers that have excelled in putting in place outstanding HR Policies that enhance organizational performance
- To provide a feedback to participating organizations of their HR management status and enable them to benchmark nationally and internationally
- To develop and disseminate a set of guidelines by which Employers can work to improve their HR Policies and Practices
- To compile a National Definitive Annual Report on the status of HR Policies and Practices.
| The EYA 2009 is the 8th survey being conducted by FUE and by far the only survey in the country which has tried to document HR practices in Uganda.
The EYA has been recognized by the ILO as a very good innovation which is promoting good employer relations and the Decent work agenda. The Federation of Uganda Employers launched the EYA 2009 survey on Friday 26th February 2010. The EYA 2009 survey is to be conducted under the theme "HR Strategic Alignment & Visibility: A link that unlocks enterprise performance." Methodology Both quantitative and qualitative approaches will be used. The questionnaires were administered in October and the verification visits were made in November and December 2009. In January and February 2010, Data will be entered, assessed and the winner determined which will culminate in an Awards Giving Ceremony for the Best Employers on 26th February 2010 at Sheraton Hotel Kampala. The methodology will employ 3 approaches namely: - Questionnaire
- Verification Visits
- Review of secondary data on company policies where available
You have the opportunity at your doorstep by taking part in the Employer of the Year survey leading to the Employer of the Year Award 2009. All public and private companies, institutions, NGOs, schools, Hospitals, Associations and professional bodies registered in Uganda, employing more than 5 people and have been in operation for 3 years can participate in the survey. As a strategy of adding value to the EYA, every participating organization will be availed an individual organization HR status report, detailing HR (practice) gaps, and recommendations on how to fill those gaps. FUE will invoice organizations that confirm participation.
